Sunita Ahuja breaks silence on Govinda's absence from Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations after cheating allegations: 'He's in America, but it's his house, he has to..'

Sunita Ahuja drew attention on Sunday after videos of her welcoming Ganpati Bappa home surfaced on social media. She was seen dancing and celebrating as the idol arrived, but one question kept coming up in the comments: where was Govinda?Sunita has now answered that. Speaking to ANI, she revealed that the actor is currently in America and is expected to return on Monday night.Addressing Govinda’s absence from the Ganpati celebrations, Sunita said he would return from America at night and could visit for darshan either the same day or the following day, depending on how tired he was after travelling.“Govinda ji is in America, he’ll come back at night. If he is tired, he won’t come for darshan today and instead will come tomorrow. This is his house, so he has to come,” she said.Sunita also spoke about the family’s tradition of bringing Ganpati Bappa home every year. She shared that the custom was started by her mother-in-law and said she intends to continue following it for as long as she is alive.Usually, according to Sunita, either Govinda or their son Yashvardhan Ahuja brings the Ganpati idol home. This year, however, she decided to do it herself.“I brought Ganpati home this time with a lot of singing and dancing – usually, Govinda ji or Yashvardhan bring him,” Sunita said. She also credited Ganpati Bappa for the developments in her life over the past year and explained why she wanted to personally bring the idol home this time. “In the last one year, Bappa has given me so much fame. I’ve been working hard, and things have gone really well for me. So I decided that I’d bring Lord Ganesha with my own hands,” she added. Sunita further revealed that the family follows a 1.5-day Ganpati tradition every year.Explaining the reason, she said, “Because if you keep them for more days, the pooja and everything needs to be done accordingly.”The family, therefore, continues with the shorter celebration while following the rituals associated with bringing Ganpati Bappa home. Apart from her Ganpati celebrations, Sunita is also preparing for her Bollywood debut with Hero Ki Horrorine. The film will also mark the acting debut of her son Yashvardhan Ahuja. According to the details shared, the movie is slated to release on January 7, 2026.
